Paisely

My favorite colors.

Weeds

Today I woke up with a clear mind and will hopefully make lots 'o patterns. I'm hoping to enter a contest on the Print & Pattern blogspot. It'd be really neat if my patterns made it into their book. So off I go to make many more patterns which I'll post as the day goes by. :)

2 Flowers

Made this one too. I just liked these two flower drawings together. I'm going to make more patterns with these two flowers with other elements.

Flowers & Spores

New pattern! Miss Watts has been very gracious to help Sarah and I get better at patterns. :) So I made this one. I've been drawing in my new sketchbook and actually filling up the pages. This is result number 1, in three different color variations. It looked best with white as the background. Yay!

Vase

My latest pattern. I'm not sure about it, but I wanted to do something tonight. I like the colors, but I wasn't sure whether or not to leave the vase by itself. I do plan on trying another pattern with both elements by themselves.

Granny Square Patterns

I love to crochet! So I learned how to crochet Granny Squares last week and I wanted to try one of my patterns. First I need to explain my Graph Book. My friend Jessica and I enjoy making patterns out of just squares (like 8-bit games). So we bought these nice graph books from Barnes and Noble in 2005. Since then we've made over 100 patterns combined. It can take a while to make one, plus I have multiple hobbies and have to make time to work on these. We use Sharpie Ultra Fine point markers for most. So combine my Graph Book with my newly learned crocheting talent and you get these examples! :D

Pattern #1:
I think the problem with this one might be all the extra grey I'll have to make. I was set on this one at first, but I'm wavering. Maybe I should make the squares blue instead of green.

Pattern #2:
I kind of like this one. But is it too simple? meh?

Pattern #3:
This is the pattern I'm working on right now. I just changed the colors based on what I crocheted.

Pattern 4:
I was mainly against doing a zig-zag because I can already do that kind of pattern with a double stitch, but it kind of looks cool. Though I like this one too I'm going to resist doing a zig-zag.

I'll come up with more examples after I crochet more Granny Squares.

Rainy Days

Update: Isn't he cute! Him and a bunch of his friends were on my back porch. I did step on two of his cousins though.

Its been raining for about 3 days, which is so unusual. Is it fall yet? I've been enjoying the break from the heat though. Its given me a chance to work on the garage. I'm an organizing machine. You could hardly walk through a small clearing 2 weeks ago. Now you can almost fit a car in there.

I love the rain!

Jars

Title: Jars
My new favorite. I drew this some time ago.  I got the idea after seeing someone's "life" in a jar. I think I was sick at the time so I thought this would do, lol.

Starfish

Title: Starfish
I wasn't sure what to do with this sketch. I think I like the end result, but I'm going to try it with different colors. (Please click on it to see a bigger version.)

Spores

Title: Spores
Again, I wanted to make something more commercial but still with things from my sketches (as always). I really like these little spores.

Flowers

Title: Flowers
I got inspired looking at Fifi Mandirac's site. I wanted to do something...I guess more commercial. I still like it though. All the bits are taken from my sketches.

Dashes & Dots

Title: Dashes & Dots
I felt I should play with just plain shapes. I'll make a few more.

Butterflies

Title: Buterflies
Not sure about this one. I was trying to make a cute pattern. Meh, really.

Zig-Zag

Title: Zig-Zag
This one is so odd. It just came together so quickly.

Windmill

Title: Windmill
The colors on this one just worked out so well. Again, I took the sketch from the Fish pattern. I'll probably use it a few more times, or make some new variations.

Triangle

Title: Triangle
Another favorite of mine. I love the color blue. I try really hard not to use it on everything.

Swish

Title: Swish
One of my first patterns. Makes me think of summer. :)

Swirl

Title: Swirl
This is another pattern made from one sketch. The top one has a lace brush on the background.

Sun

Title: Sun
I took the same sketch from the Fish pattern and rotated it a bunch. I particularly like the comet brush I used on the background.

Stripes

Title: Stripes
Probably my least favorite. I just haven't wanted to align it better. I made this in Photoshop, but if I remake it in Illustrator I'll get a better result.

Rorschach

Title: Rorschach (1, 2, & 3)
This is actually a multi-repetition of a sketch of a single stalk of wheat I did one day. The bottom two weren't really speaking to me. My favorite is the top one, much less of an eye sore. I will most likely revisit this pattern over time.

Houses

Title: Houses (1,2, & 3)
The first one is with some grunge brushes added to ground. I drew these little houses last week and turned it into this pattern.

Fish, PewPewPew

Title 1: Fish
Title 2: PewPewPew

I love both of these. I'm still working on getting them to work seamlessly, but that takes a lot of my patience and other inspiration comes along. So for now, this is the best.

Fire Monster

Title: Fire Monster
This adorable little sketch was drawn when I was sick. Isn't he just the cutest!
Sarah suggested a double print look. I really can't decide on which one I like.

Cake, Cupcake

Title 1: Cake
Title 2: Cupcake

These two I made on the same day. The cake, milk, and cupcake illustrations I made for a project in school two years ago. I like the cake one best. I know, base on some friends critic that Cupcake needs some revising.
